About Us
The Church of the Living God, Temple #120 has been in existence in Chicago since 1929. It began at the home of Elder and Sister Tiller at 3949 S. Wells Street. The Church occupied several storefront areas then moved to 6000 South Union Avenue, where we have been since 1961. After 63 years of existence, we only had one Pastor, Elder Bishop L.H. Dixon, who went on to glory in 1991. His wife, Evangelist P.A. Dixon, went on to become Pastor for only four short months before passing away. The Lord blessed Temple #120 with Elder Charles Whitsett, the son-in-law of Evangelist P.A. Dixon, to become pastor and after 15 years of serving the Lord and the Englewood Community, he was called home on January 31, 2008. Under Elder Whitsett's leadership, many souls were saved at this Temple. One bright light that continued to shine and received favor from our Lord is Elder Calvin Gipson, Sr., our current Pastor. The Church of the Living God, CWFF, Temple #120, is part of a national brotherhood of Temples (ctlgcwff.org).
